Frequently asked cake questionS

Thank you for considering Petal + Peach as part of your celebration. Below are some answers to common questions — shared with the same thoughtfulness we bring to our cakes.

WHERE IS PETAL + PEACH BASED?

Our cake studio is nestled in Wellington Point, on the quiet bayside fringe of Brisbane, QLD.

HOW DO I ORDER A BESPOKE CAKE?

Begin by submitting a quote request. The more you can tell us — your date, guest count, preferred serving size (dessert or canapé), and visual inspiration — the more seamlessly we can shape a design just for you.

Whether you have a clear vision or just a sense of the feeling you want your cake to evoke, we’ll meet you there and guide you through the rest.

HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD I BOOK?

We accept a limited number of commissions each month to honour the slow, careful nature of our process. Wedding commissions are often booked 6–9 months in advance. The sooner you reach out, the more likely we are to have space for you.

DO YOU HAVE A MINIMUM SPEND?

We will be introducing a minimum spend requirement from 2026.

CAN I COLLECT MY CAKE?

Single-tier cakes and cupcakes may be collected by appointment. Transporting a cake requires a flat surface (such as the car boot or floor in front of the passenger seat). Once your cake leaves the studio, we’re no longer responsible for any damage in transit.

DO YOU DELIVER?

Yes. We hand-deliver to most of Brisbane, the Redlands, and parts of the Northern Gold Coast. We’ll liaise directly with your venue and ensure safe arrival, complete with a repair kit just in case.

Please note: Delivery bookings are limited and not available for Byron Bay, Noosa, Scenic Rim or Northern NSW.

WHAT INGREDIENTS DO YOU USE?

We work with beautiful ingredients — always full-flavoured, seasonal where possible, and chosen for quality over trend. You’ll often find Esther’s free-range eggs, Wellington Point strawberries, real butter, and premium couverture chocolate in our cakes. We make many of our inclusions in-house — lemon curd, toffee shards, meringues — because some things are simply better when made slowly.

DO YOU USE FONDANT?

No. We don’t work with fondant or create novelty cakes. Every design is finished in natural buttercream and adorned with seasonal details that speak to your story — florals, hand-piped textures, colourplay, and layered flavours.

WILL YOU REPLICATE A CAKE I FOUND ONLINE?

We don’t replicate the work of other artists, but we welcome inspiration. Share what you’re drawn to — and we’ll interpret it in a way that feels distinctly yours.

DO YOU CATER FOR DIETARY REQUIREMENTS?

Due to our small studio size, we’re unable to offer cakes that are gluten free, dairy free, vegan or nut free. All cakes are made in a kitchen that handles these ingredients.

WHAT FLAVOURS CAN I CHOOSE FROM?

Our flavour menu is seasonal and intentional. Every cake is made from scratch using layered fillings and considered textures. Some designs allow for multiple flavours — we’ll advise what’s best for the size and format you choose.

HOW DO I PAY?

A 50% non-refundable retainer secures your booking. Final payment is due 7 days before your event.

WHAT IF I NEED TO MAKE A CHANGE?

Changes can be made up to 3 weeks prior to your event. Closer to the date, changes may incur additional charges or may not be possible.

HOW LONG WILL MY CAKE LAST?

If stored correctly, your cake will keep beautifully in the fridge for up to 3 days. Many of our clients enjoy any leftover slices well beyond the event (and even freeze them for milestone anniversaries). We’ll provide storage and serving guidance with every order.

CAN I TASTE YOUR CAKES FIRST?

Yes. Tasting boxes are offered throughout the year for weddings and larger commissions. You’ll find more information on our wedding page.

WHY DON’T YOU TAKE ON MORE ORDERS?

Because this is slow work. Each cake is a considered piece, and your celebration deserves the kind of attention that only comes from working with intention, not volume.
