Thank you for considering Petal + Peach  as you plan your sweet celebration! If it is the first time you’ve enquired with us, here is a list of frequently asked questions on bespoke cakes + treats.

How do P+P bespoke cake consultations work?

We love to chat over cake! However for our wonderful customers sake, consultations are reserved for secured bookings only and are limited due to Bec’s busy schedule.

When choosing Petal + Peach for your bespoke cake consultation, no expense is spared for you and your private party of 3 maximum. Bubbly, samples, private bespoke cakery space and of course one on one time with the delightful Bec are included. Our aim at your consultation is to gather information and discuss basic configurations and sizing options.  You will also be offered a small share plate of cake samples that we have baked fresh that week (minimum of six flavours).

We will follow up your consultation with a detailed email highlighting specific sizes, decorative elements, possible additions or alternatives and delivery charges.

You may secure a time for your consultation here. If your sweets order is under $400, the consultation fee of $60 is charged in addition to the items you select.  

HOW may we sample bespoke cake flavours?

Sample tasting packs are produced 3 times a year exclusively for our sweet tooth tribe in February, June and November. The tasting packs are $50 and feature a range of 6 seasonal flavours chosen and released prior to booking dates by Bec.

How do I order a BESPOKE cake? 

Please submit a quote request form.  By providing as many details as possible including date, number of serves required, size of the portion (dessert or coffee) and any specific design features you like we are able to provide you with a quick and accurate quote.  It is also helpful to send images of the inspiration for your event including pictures of table settings, invitations, dresses, flowers etc.  In some instances, you may know exactly what you would like and we can work with your vision to create something spectacular.  In other instances you may only have a general idea or collection of ideas that need editing – we can help you with this too.

How far in advance should I order my cake?

As soon as you know about your event and the type of cake you would like, please book it in.  Although we may be able to make a cake with two weeks notice, there is a risk that as we move closer to your desired date, we will become booked out.  We would really hate to disappoint you!  We take a limited number of wedding cake bookings each week and find that most clients book their cake 6-9 months in advance.

How soon before my event should I place my order?

Often during peak seasons such as wedding season and Christmas, dates are booked out for months, however on other occasions there is availability to cater for last minute orders with only a week's notice.

Secure your booking as soon as you are sure, to avoid disappointment. Our general recommendation is to order at least 4 - 6 months in advance.

Can I collect my bespoke cake?

Depending on the size of your cake, yes you can.  Single tier and two tier cakes are available for collection at a pre-organised appointment time.  The time is usually confirmed one week prior to the collection day and is subject to availability.  It is important that your cake has somewhere flat to rest like the floor in front of the passenger seat or the boot of the car.  Petal + Peach does not accept responsibility for collected cakes damaged in transit.

What is your delivery policy for bespoke cakes?

Cakes are packaged in appropriate travel boxes and delivered via passenger vehicle.  Petal and Peach will liaise with your venue coordinator to schedule an appropriate delivery time based around on-site facilities, particularly access to refrigeration.  Repair kits are carried at all times in order to repair any minor damage that may occur during transportation.  In the event of a major accident where the cake/sweet items are totally and irreparably damaged, you will be issued with a full refund.  Petal and Peach takes no responsibility for damages that occur at your nominated venue once the cake has been delivered.  In the event we are required to repair a damaged cake, a call out fee of $200* will be charged (Brisbane CBD and surrounds).

Delivery is available to most areas including in and around Brisbane and Redlands, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and Ipswich areas for all cakes.  Please note - delivery bookings are limited so the earlier you book your cake the more likely you are to secure your cake’s delivery. Please include details of your venue or the delivery address if you would like us to include this pricing in your quote.  All cakes three tiers and larger will require on site construction and are unable to be collected.  Delivery to Byron (and surrounds), Toowoomba and Noosa are also available however do incur additional delivery charges due to the time it takes to travel such a long distance.  

Delivery Fees are as follows:

  • Redlands $50

  • Brisbane CBD and surrounds $65

  • Greater Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba and associated areas are $1 per km return from our Studio in Wellington Point

What ingredients do you use in your cakes?

Depending on the cake you order, you can expect to find some of the following superior quality ingredients in your cake:

  • Esther’s Free Range eggs

  • Callebaut or Lindt Chocolate

  • Maleny Gurnsey Milk

  • Pretty Produce Edible Blooms

  • Wellington Point Farm Fresh Strawberries

Additionally, we make our own edible toppers including but not limited to macarons, meringues, curd, sugar cookies, caramel and toffee.  

Can my florist or I put flowers on a bespoke cake?

No.  The signature Petal + Peach style includes the unique way we incorporate fresh blooms on your cake.  Blooms are incorporated as a part of the final cake design and it is important to us that we see your cake through to completion.

As the cake is edible, we are responsible for ensuring it is safe to eat and free from contamination.  This is a responsibility we take very seriously.  Additionally, we would advise against placing blooms on the cake yourself as fresh blooms must be prepared correctly in order to prevent contamination of the cake.  

How much does a bespoke p + p cake cost?

As all of our cakes are customised to your needs and completely made to order, the cost is dependent the size, design and additional requirements of the cake. For a more accurate idea of pricing, it is best to submit a bespoke cake quote. 

How can I request a BESPOKE CAKE quote?

Do you work with Fondant and create fondant cakes?

We work exclusively with the delicious buttercream and ganache to cover our cakes. 


Do you create novelty/carved cakes?

We do not, however we can create a cake with a particular theme in mind. 

Will you replicate an image of a bespoke cake design I found?

Beauty, ingenuity and artistic expression are core values of P+P therefore we do not replicate the designs of other cake makers; however, you may send us pictures of other cakes to use as inspiration in the cake we create for you. 

Do you cater to dietary requirements?

At this stage we are unable to offer dairy free or nut free cakes.  We have a very small kitchen and all of our equipment has at some point come in to contact with these foods.  

Unfortunately, we are not vegan friendly. 

How do I pay for my bespoke cake once quote accepted?

Once cake vision and quote are agreed a 50% deposit will be required. Final payment to be made minimum of one week prior to collection or delivery.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellations with 28 days or more notice will result in a $100 cancellation fee.

Cancellations within 28 days of the booking date will render the deposit non-refundable.

What if I have last minute changes?

We will do our best to accommodate any last-minute changes.  Please be aware that this may incur a cost due to loss of already completed work or the addition of items on your cake or size. If changes are unable to be made or the cost is unacceptable to you, the original contract still stands and all above stated terms and conditions apply.

Confirmation and payment

Upon confirmation of your order by Petal and Peach, a binding contract exists.  

How do I collect my bespoke cake?

All baked goods are to be collected from Wellington Point in the Redland Shire unless previously agreed otherwise. Collection is strictly by appointment.

Cake Variations

Every cake is handmade, from scratch.  As such, no two cakes will ever be exactly the same.  Photographs of previously completed cakes are to be used as a general guide only.

How should I transport my bespoke cake after collection?

We made every effort to ensure our cakes are sturdily constructed, and professionally boxed for maximum security. However, when transporting your cake, care is still needed.
A cake is best transported on a flat, level surface – so a car seat is a big no-no as the cake will slide backwards; the best place for your cake will either be in a foot well or boot with a towel underneath to provide a non-slip surface. If these aren’t available options, then a passenger can carry the cake. 

Do I need to refrigerate my cake?

Our cakes require refrigeration until one hour prior to the commencement of your event. Some flavours will need to be returned to refrigeration within four hours.

We advise you to take your cake out of the fridge for 1-2 hours before serving, as cake is best eaten at room temperature, for optimal flavour and texture. 

How long will I be able to store my bespoke cake for?

If it outlasts the event (which it usually doesn’t), your cake can stay in the fridge for up to 3 days, or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
