Behind the Scenes: Filming Petal + Peach on Channel 9 | My Way
Running a cake studio is usually a quiet, intimate kind of work.
Most days at Petal + Peach Cakes begin the same way — with ingredients measured carefully on the bench, buttercream slowly whipped until silky smooth, and cakes stacked layer by layer in the studio here in Wellington Point.
So when I received the call asking whether Petal + Peach might be featured on Channel 9’s MyWay, it felt both exciting and a little surreal.
As a Brisbane cake designer specialising in bespoke wedding cakes and celebration cakes, most of my work happens quietly behind the scenes. Couples see the finished cake on their wedding day, but they rarely see the process that brings it to life.
Filming with the MyWay team was a chance to share that part of the story.
The cameras captured the small details that make cake design such a thoughtful craft — smoothing buttercream across a freshly iced cake, carefully stacking tiers, and adding those final finishing touches that transform a cake into something truly special.
While filming certainly brings a little more energy into the studio than usual, the heart of the process stays the same.
Every cake created at Petal + Peach begins with the same intention: to craft something beautiful, personal, and memorable for the celebration it’s part of.
Being featured on Channel 9 was a lovely reminder that even the quiet work done in small creative studios can resonate far beyond their walls.
